Unchartered Territories

I was watching this interview of Gary Vaynerchuk yesterday.

The last I watched one was years ago. The guy still got it, still gets it, still delivers more value in a 15min interview than most can 4h podcast.

There’s a moment in the interview, where he says, in essence, taht his “big corporate clients” always ask for proof, or reference, or something showing it has been done before (when pitched an idea for social media marketing).

And he always answer: can we be the ones who just do it this time? Who are the first?

I think this question and challenge, the challenge of uncertainty, extends to a lot what what strategy is.

It is tempting to stick to what’s been proven before. Clear path, measurable ROI.

I wrote about embracing friction a few days ago. Perhaps strategy is about embracing uncertainty.

About charting a course in uncharted territories.
